Brakes

Scorpion brakes differ slightly from the Montecarlo, but many of the tips remain the same.

The brakes are made up of a split circuit system, one circuit operating the front brakes, the other operates the rear.

Scorpion Brake Diagram

The front brakes are assisted by a servo located in the engine compartment. This assistance often causes the front wheels to lock up if braking sharply in the wet.

Many people have removed the servo to eliminate this problem. Some people have simply bridged the pipes around the servo leaving it in position should they need it later. The better solution would be to re-plumb the front circuit directly from the master cylinder, thereby removing the two lengths of pipe from the front of the car to the rear.

Consideration should be given to whether it would be best to replace the master cylinder with one that has three outlets. This would allow you to split the front brakes again into two separate circuits.
